OTHER STUFF

I went to Newcastle (two-and-a-half hours out
of Sydney) for the Young
Writer's Festival. It was a nice trip, except for the
train up and the plane back. Here's some photos I took. Finally,
you'll see what a "zine fair" looks like.
First, fourteen hours on a train. Then...

This was the ceiling fan in my hotel room.
It made a lot of noise, but it was effective in keeping me
cool and unconscious. Hotel CBD: ****!

Evening at the Hunter on Hunter, which, as
I was reliably informed on my return to Melbourne, is a shitty
pub. I didn't mind it, as I'm quite used to hanging out in
shitty pubs. Pictured is Stratu,
of Sick Puppy Comix fame. At left is Troy Mingramm.

Kelly of Darwin Distro and Paul Elliott
of PolyEster Books.

Sunday at the zine/comic fair. Is Troy checking
his pits before the "zine grrls" arrive?

Shen the poet from Adelaide, and somebody
else.

Vanessa "The Big Norg'd Playwright",
from Sydney. Lucy Alexander, another charming poet
from Adelaide. Collect the set.

Christian Read (The
Watch) -- writer, drinker, Renaissance man -- kindly manning
my table while I fuck off to take pictures and otherwise pissfart
around.

Look at these stunningly attractive festivalgoers.
See the fabulous comic book they peruse.

Stratu misplaces his eyeballs. Leon's
(Panel Beater) shirt intrigues me.

Steve Carter and Antoinette Rydyr.
Their comics bear many names, my favourite of which is Spore
Whores.

The lovely Nicola Hardy. Not pictured:
her fingers.

Christian invokes 25 years of metal mayhem as
an unsuspecting customer purchases a copy of Nakedfella
Comics. A fitting end to a whirlwind festival: all that
is left is the train to Sydney and the plane to Melbourne.
Ansett? Absolutely.
